There's something about the game that lights up a child's eyes. And, through the Miracle League, it's an experience that every child can enjoy.
The Miracle League of the Fox Valley, a program of Goodwill NCW, is a non-competitive, organized baseball league for children aged 4-19 with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
The Rules are Simple:
Everyone Hits - Everyone Gets on Base - Everyone Crosses Home Plate!
Teams play one game/week with the Opening Day Celebration on June 6th with games starting the week of June 8, 2020. The season is 7 weeks long and teams follow a Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thurs schedule. Baseball games are played on Monday - Thursday evenings with games at 5:30pm and 7pm. Games cancelled due to weather are not rescheduled.
The athletes play at the John Wollner Fox Cities Miracle Field in Memorial Park, (Appleton, Wisconsin) The field is custom designed and fully accessible. This gives every child the opportunity to be successful. The field provides a level playing field where athletes can hit, run, and score.
To provide assistance and encouragement to the athletes, the Miracle League uses a "buddy" system. Each player will head out to the field with a community volunteer. This partnership will benefit both the player and the volunteer buddy - they'll share the love of baseball and most importantly, create a lasting friendship.
The cost to participate will be $45, which includes a major league look-alike team jersey, baseball cap, professional team photo, end of the season award and player insurance. Team sponsors and scholarship donors help defray the cost for any family that may have a hardship in paying the registration fee. No child will be turned away for inability to pay.
