Miracle League 2021 Playbook

Introduction

We are excited to welcome everyone back to the field for the 2021 Miracle League of the Fox Valley season! While some processes and procedures will look different this year, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to play baseball again.

Participant health and safety will continue to be our number one priority for the 2021 season. Since things are changing daily, please be patient as we work through these unprecedented times. Additional information will be shared as decisions are made.

New Program Leader

Kailee Vander Loop has been hired as the new Program Leader of the Miracle League of the Fox Valley. She was a coach in the league, with her husband Chad, for the last 4 years.  Kailee is excited to meet you and is thrilled with the opportunity to lead the league.

Lisa Robbins is retiring and will be working with her this season with training and planning as she transitions the Program Leader responsibilities. Please contact Kailee at kvanderloop@goodwillncw.org with any questions.

Player Registration

Player registration will open on February 15 and close on March 29, 2021. It is extremely important that player registration forms be submitted on time. Since the pandemic is requiring extra planning and organization, late registrations will not be accepted.

This year we are requiring all families to register a back-up volunteer (buddy) for their player. Since we don’t know how many volunteers will return this season, this will ensure a successful season. A volunteer registration form is enclosed and must be submitted with your player registration form by March 29.

On the player registration form, you must indicate if your player is open to a community volunteer or if you strictly want your player to remain with the buddy that you sign them up with. We will do our best to match players with a community volunteer for those who are interested.

Please note that any volunteer over the age of 18, no matter the relation to the player, must complete a background check. These checks are completed to protect our participants and no exceptions will be made. If a background check isn’t completed, a volunteer cannot participate. Background checks will be emailed to the volunteers based on the email addresses provided on their registration form.

As a reminder, any player that would have retired in 2020 is welcome to play in the 2021 season.

Volunteer Registration

Our goal is to recruit as many volunteers as possible to give players the opportunity to create new friendships. While we will accept volunteer registration forms all spring, we ask that all community volunteers sign up by May 17. This will provide us with ample time to complete background checks and make buddy/player matches.

Rules and Expectations

We will be working with Goodwill NCW and public health officials to implement guidelines to follow for the upcoming season. We will be following local mask mandates, social distancing practices, and sanitization procedures.

Since guidelines and information are constantly changing, we will not be able to answer every question at this time. Please be patient as we work through finalizing the details. Final guidelines and rules will be shared with all participants prior to the start of the season but in a timely manner to help you prepare for a safe season.
