There's something about the game that lights up a child's eyes. And, through the Miracle League, it's an experience that every child can enjoy.
The Miracle League of the Fox Valley, a program of Goodwill NCW, is a non-competitive, organized baseball league for children aged 4-19 with cognitive and /or physical disabilities.
The Rules are Simple:
Everyone Hits - Everyone Gets on Base - Everyone Crosses Home plate!
2016 Opening Day Celebration is on June 10, 2017 at the field. Teams play one game/week with games starting on June 12, 2017. The season is 8 weeks long and teams follow a Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thurs schedule. Baseball games will be played on Monday - Thursday evenings with games at 5:30pm and 7pm.
Games cancelled due to weather are not rescheduled.
The athletes play at the John Wollner Fox Cities Miracle Filed in Memorial Park, (Appleton, Wisconsin) The field is custom designed and rubberized - giving every child the opportunity to be successful. The field provides a level playing field where children can hit, run, and score - just as they envisioned in their dreams.
To provide assistance and encouragement to the athletes, the Miracle League uses a "buddy" system. Each player will head out to the field with an able bodied peer. This partnership will benefit both the player and the buddy - they'll share the love of baseball and most importantly, create a lasting friendship. The cost to participate will be $45, which will include a major league look-alike team jersey, a baseball cap, and player insurance through the league. Team sponsors and scholarship donors help to defray the cost for any family that may have a hardship in paying the fee. No child will be turned away for inability to pay.
