There's something about the game that lights up a child's eyes. And, through the Miracle League, it's an experience that every child can enjoy.
The Miracle League of the Fox Valley is a non-competitive, organized baseball league for children aged 4-19 with physical and/or mental disabilities.
The athletes play on a custom designed, rubberized field. The field will provide a level playing field where children can hit, run, and score - just as they envisioned in their dreams. The Rules are Simple:
Everyone Hits - Everyone Gets on Base - Everyone Crosses Homeplate!
All player slots have been filled for the 2010 MLFV baseball season. Registration for the 2011 season will start on November 1, 2010
To provide assistance and encouragement to the athletes, the Miracle League uses a "buddy" system. Each player will head out to the field with an able bodied peer. This partnership will benefit both the player and the buddy - they'll share the love of baseball and most importantly, create a lasting friendship.
The cost to participate will be $45, which will include a major league look-alike team jersey, a baseball cap, and player insurance through the league. Team sponsors and scholarship donors help to defray the cost for any family that may have a hardship in paying the fee. No child will be turned away for inability to pay.
